John Hillesland is the Category Lead for HR and Professional Services at the University of Chicago. John holds a master’s degree in Global Supply Chain Management from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business and a bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Iowa.
In his current role, John leads the University of Chicago’s procurement strategies across an approximate $150M annual expenditure portfolio of professional service and HR supplier relationships. He is passionate about supporting the University’s deep commitment to business diversity and local sourcing initiatives. John has spent his entire career in higher education, he’s been at the University of Chicago for 11 years and prior to that spent 5 years with the University of Iowa’s purchasing department.
